The history and background of the gamebook series
The first Lupo Solitario gamebook was published in 1984 by Mursia in Italy, and by Beaver Books in the UK. It was titled I Signori delle Tenebre (The Lords of Darkness) in Italian, and Flight from the Dark in English. It was followed by 27 more gamebooks in the original series, which ended in 1998 with L'Ira di Naar (The Wrath of Naar). Joe Dever also wrote a spin-off series called Freeway Warrior, set in a post-apocalyptic world, and a prequel series called The World of Lone Wolf, written by Ian Page.
In 2007, Joe Dever announced that he had regained the rights to his gamebooks, and started to revise and expand them for a new edition. He also planned to write new gamebooks to continue the story of Lone Wolf. He collaborated with various publishers, such as Mongoose Publishing, Vincent Books, Holmgard Press, and Mantikore-Verlag, to release his gamebooks in print and digital formats. He also authorized fan-made projects, such as Project Aon, which provides free online versions of his gamebooks.
Unfortunately, Joe Dever passed away in 2016, leaving behind a legacy of gamebooks that have inspired generations of readers and gamers. His son, Ben Dever, has taken over his father's work and is continuing to publish new gamebooks under the supervision of Holmgard Press.

The main features and gameplay of Lupo Solitario
Lupo Solitario is a gamebook series that combines elements of role-playing games, choose-your-own-adventure books, and interactive fiction. You need a pencil, an eraser, some paper, and a pair of dice to play. You also need a copy of the gamebook you want to play.
